Washington
DC) Following the Senate
passage of the CAFTA agreement yesterday, the
National Council of Textile Organizations (NCTO)
and the National Cotton Council
(NCC) applauded the strong
textile and cotton state support for
agreement.
NCTO and
NCC expressed appreciation
for the strong support of key textile and cotton
state senators, noting that fifteen out of
eighteen Southeastern senators voted to support
CAFTA.
Senators
from these states represented
the strongest show of support for CAFTA of any
region.
NCTO and
NCC urged members of the
House also to support the agreement, noting that
over $4 billion in US exports of cotton and
textile products are at stake.
These two groups are members of a coalition
of eleven textile and apparel trade associations
that have endorsed the CAFTA
agreement.
